Estimator FAQs

There are a number of factors that can impact the final price of your repair. The RepairPal Fair Price Estimator presents a range to include some of these common factors, like difference in parts pricing between OEM and aftermarket, or differences in costs based on your specific vehicle configuration, like trim or engine.
There can be several reasons for different quotes at the shop. Each RepairPal Certified Shop has their own parts pricing and labor rates, which may differ slightly from what we use in our estimator. Further, RepairPal estimates do not include taxes, disposal fees, diagnostic charges, or other related repairs that may be necessary. If the repair cost still exceeds the estimate range even with all the above considerations, we can intervene to work with the shop on your behalf or refund the difference.
The shop agrees to honor the RepairPal Price Guarantee for 30 days after the date the repair is performed. If you happen to be charged a higher price, they will refund you the difference. You will need to submit a reimbursement request to the shop within thirty days of the repair.
In some cases, the needed data was not available to produce accurate estimates. In other cases, certain models are so rare and/or unique that we could not create accurate estimates. Please let us know if you don't see your car on our list. The more feedback we get, the better we can judge which models are the most popular. Don't be shy—we want to hear from you!
