AC Compressor Replacement Cost
RepairPrice Estimates are based on the estimated time for the repair, labor rates charged by trained automotive professionals, and prices for quality parts.
These estimates are designed to show a range of fair prices, instead of a single price, because there is more than one part that is appropriate to use in each repair, and more than a single mechanic who is qualified to do the repair.
Each estimate is customized for your vehicle and geographic area. Estimates exclude applicable taxes, diagnostic charges and disposal fees.
AC Compressor Replacement Estimate (National Average)
We recommend replacing the A/C drier when the A/C compressor is replaced. The A/C drier acts as a moisture and debris filter for the A/C system and a new part will keep the repaired system clean. (This will add additional parts and labor cost to the estimate.)
Any restrictions in the A/C system will need to be identified and repaired or a recurring problem with the A/C compressor is likely.
AC compressors may need to be replaced if they are found to be leaking oil and/or refrigerant.
Failing A/C compressors that make unusually loud noises while operating should be addressed before they cause damage to other parts in the AC system.
"Stop leak" compounds are not recommended, as they are a temporary solution and can damage A/C components, resulting in expensive repairs.
