When a mass air flow sensor problem occurs, resulting in a loss of power or hesitation on acceleration, the Check Engine Light will illuminate, perhaps indicating random cylinder misfire. The mass air flow sensor may respond to cleaning, but replacement of the sensor is best.

This has happened 5 times since I purchased this auto in 2001. It happened 3 times in 3 years.
The problem is happening again. The check light came on just two days ago, it has been two years since
event. This flow sensor has cost me over $500.00 so far. It has been cleaned, replaced. Why does it go out
