VW eurovan with a 1998 Rialta camper
We have a 1997 six-cylinder eurovan camper. We've had no problem with the transmission. No sign of any problems. We started it after sitting overnight and transmission fluid started pouring out. We drove about quarter mile before noticing it. Couldn't drive it any further. p0740 and P0730. All the fluid had poured out. We towed it to a good shop. They checked hoses etc and said we need to rebuild our transmission! Expensive and logistically complicated! But, weird w no previous sign of trouble and a cold engine. Any explanation?? Thanks
Whenever I lock the doors with key, they immediately unlock and remain unlocked. Do you know what may be causing this? It has never happened before and all of a sudden just started to act this way and does every attempt now. Suggestion(s) on how to repair?
Long running problems with severe loss of power, esp going up hill. We had several cylinders misfiring, so have just replaced all the ignition wires and the coil pack, which we thought would be the answer. Things have improved slightly but we still lose power going uphill once the car has warmed up. Sometimes it feels like it is jolting into gear. Once power is slipping away it is impossible to get many revs. Also, it is erratic when starting up in the morning, sometimes it cuts out a few times first.
After replacing the wires and coil pack, we immediately got these codes on our ODBII scanner, for the first time - 17952 (P1544); 16505 (P0121); 00518 (P0121), which are all related to the throttle. We are confused as to why the current symptoms are similar - altho not as severe - as the symptoms we had before replacing the wires and coil pack, and yet we had not had these throttle codes on the scanner before. We are driving the van in Latin America, so it is not easy to get parts, nor to find mechanics who know anything about this model of VW. any tips hugely appreciated. thanks
Feels like the transmission thinks the accelerator is fully depressed, but it is not. Occasionally will shift down going downhill, just after the accelerator is lifted.
Can someone help me obtain an owners manual for 1997 VW Eurovan. VW no longer supports this need. Either the manual or a copy will suffice. Willing to reimburse for time spent. Thanks. David
How much should it cost to replace a muffler at a discount muffler shop? Parts and Labor.

This is the second pair of VW EuroVan VR6 Ignition Wires installed, They pop of at the plug before driving 25 miles. They are the correct part, and cost over $100.00 Do you have a fix for this?
