Report: The power transfer unit and/or viscous coupling may fail due to tire issues
Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Problem
Model Years Affected: 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994
Verified
The power transfer unit (transfer case) and/or viscous coupling may fail due to unequal size or oversize tires. Use of incorrect or mismatched tires can cause the front and rear wheels to fight (driveline wrap-up) resulting in drive train failure. Our technicians recommend to use only matched, correctly sized tires and keep them properly inflated and rotated in order to maintain uniform tire wear.
