1989 Nissan Maxima SE...irregularly car looses gas power driving...at stoplight...stop and go...making a turn. Sometimes car starts fine and after 5 miles...RPM starts to fluctuate...sometimes I can pump gas pedal, but never feels power unless it just wants to start up again on its own. When the engine cuts off, I put it in neutral to restart engine while rolling or while waiting at stop light. If it happens when making a turn, I lose power steering, but I still have electricity, lights, power windows, etc.. No red lights show up...except when gas power goes out and then all lights go on like when turning on ignition. Two years ago engine light came on and engine overheated with steam from under hood; Air conditioner stopped working...mechanic removed air conditioning belt. A year later, mechanic fixed or taped some loose wires somewhere near the engine. Over time I would lose gas power. I should say that when it runs, it runs very smoothly until I lose the gas power. What should I ask the mechanic to look for to solve this problem? It is getting very frustrating to drive to work if only seven miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I need another car, but I just can't afford one right now at age 64 and worried about money and job. Ray
I have changed the dash 3 times and it did the same thing to the other 3, please help me.
runs this way all the time.
After spending over $900.00 since December just for parts, my car seemingly was running smoothly. Now as soon as the engine warms up the car goes nuts. It bucks, dies, and runs like sh__t. Yesterday for the first time I kept the car running by stomping the throttle and hoplding it while it surged until it coughed and died. I opened the hood and discovered smoke coming from the area of the catalytic converter. it sounds like a lot of back pressure has bulit up?
I replaced my front left cv joint with a new one. I immediately noticed a fluid leak. I removed it frome the transaxile the next day AND replaced the oil seal. Is it necessary to replace the circlip on the inner cv joint when I reinstall it?
