An internal distributor fault could cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate, an engine misfire, or a stalling condition. Replacement of the distributor is commonly recommend to correct this concern.

Car stalls and wont restart. When it does run it runs rough and then the check engine light comes on and it seems to run smoother after that but then gets rough again at higher speeds. It resets when you shut the engine off and the whole process starts over again.
