1998 GMC Safari QuestionsRefine by vehicle
Any solutions I found like change cylinder or check short circuit or change fuell pump check I ignition circuit , veteran module ,fusses relays, wiring , has no trouble. Battery is new .starter to.so I do not know what I can do whit this problem. So if some body can help. Anticipated thanks for.
When I turn the key to start, the engine races so fast that I have to turn off the key to keep the engine from blowing up. Immediately leading up to this condition driving home, I noticed the car continued to accelerate when I applied the breaks, and I punched the accelerator pedal to try to "un-stick" it. It worked twice, but now there is no control with the pedal. It's as if there is no pedal, just open throttle. Could it possibly a broken throttle cable (if there is such a thing)?
When I turn the key to start it, it's not until after I release the key that it wants to start. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I came in from worked,Changed clothes,got back in my 1998 G.M.C. safari van. It would not start. I let it set til next morning. Still wold not start.
I pulled the cowling out of the center,changed cap and rotor.
still don't start.
I am getting fire from #1,but still will not start.
How do I find "TOP DEAD CENTER".
That having been corrected, a couple of weeks ago it won't start in any weather. I never know whether it'll start or not. The fuel pump maintains a 60 psi. I turn the key and it turns over but won't fire. I do this a few times and it'll start sometimes. Other times I have to wait about 10-15 mins. before it'll start. Other times she'll fire right up with no problem. This happens on a cold start or after being driven. Any suggestions?
I used a bit of started fluid in air flow to quick start and nothing. it had cut off on the hwy while driving so I taught it was my pump but my pump is running because i hear it
security passlock issue,did the 10 min x 3, no good ,dealer replaced a chip in/near key cylinder new battery,,van will not start,starts n stalls out (is passlock) getting spark,has gas to throttle,sometimes the 10 min works other times it wont,can i disable or bypass it without buying a byoass module,HELP :o,dynamite is next :)
where can i get a rebuilt engine and have it removed ad replaced for as cheap as possible? in Las Vegas, NV.
is there a way to read engine codes on a 98 gmc safari van? I know that I can read the codes on my ford aerostar by turning off and on twice, then leaving the key on and watch the engine light blink, (like 3 blinks, then a pause, then the last number. then comes (I think) a 55 code meaning the end of the code) is there a way to do something like this on a 98 gmc safari. rear wheel drive with a 4.3 dual air till I can afford a OBIII code reader.
the rear liftgate.latch on the drivers side won't release,so i can't open any of the bottom doors or upper window . is there any special trick thats used to open the lift gate so i can replace the switches and rods? any info you can provide would be great. thanks.
WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VAN ITS FUEL GAUGE DID NOT WORK. WHEN STARTING THE VAN THE NEEDLE GOES NUTS AND AFTER RUNNING. IT JUST PEGS THE FULL MARK. BUT SOMETIME AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE .WHEN I START THE VAN IT WILL STAY ON THE HALF TANK MARK TILL I SHUT IT OFF. WHAT MAKES THIS GAUGE ACT LIKE THIS? THANKS AGAIN.
I RECENTLY STARTED HEARING TICKING TO A HEAVY THUMPING NOISES WHEN GIVING MY GMC SAFARI VAN GAS AND A RAPID TAPPING SOUND FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER I LET OFF THE GAS. I HAD A NEW FLYHEEL PUT IN THE SAME WEEK IT STARTED THIS. BUT I'VE NOTICED LATELY THERE IS NO TICKING WHEN I START THE VAN AND LET IT IDLE AND IF I DRIVE MORE THAN 10 TO 20 MILES WHEN I SHUT IT OFF IT SMELLS OF BURNT RUBBER COMING FROM UNDER THE VAN. SO I HOPE THERE ISN'T A ROD OR BEARING PLOBLEM. DOES ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS WHAT MIGHT HAVE WENT WRONG HERE? ANY IDEAS ARE BETTER THEN A BLANK. SO PLEASE HELP. AND HAVE A GOOD XMAS TO ALL. THANKS
I had my flywheel replaced, no flywheel noises now, but i have a deep knocking noise when i give it gas, and when i let off the gas it gives a rapid tapping noise then gets quit till i give it gas again. can something that was done while replacing the flywheel be causing this noise?
i recently had my flywheel replaced and after about 2 weeks the moter started making a lower front end knocking noise. i've ask the guy who did the repairs, over 3 months ago and he said he has to do some internet searches and get back with me, now he won't answer my calls and i havent heard a wisper fom him or his company. so i wanted to find out if a defective flywheel was or went bad make this noise. thanks
