1992 Chevrolet Cavalier QuestionsRefine by vehicle
The hazard lights work and blink. The parts shop sold me a flasher but it was for the hazard lights not the turn signals. I cannot locate another flasher under the dash.
does this transmission use vacuum pressure to "decide" shift points? Also seems to shift a little better when outside temperature is warmer.
alternator or battery ?
The engine revs but it doesn't affect the reversing of the car. Also the reverse lights don't work. Could this be a prndl switch problem?
resevior was low on fluid filled it up light went out pedal is soft when applying just changed front brakes did not bleed could there be air in line & brakes need bleed? thanks jinx304
My 92 Cavalier's warning signs and door dings continue to flash and beep when you shut the car off and pull the key out. We found the "flasher" relay and when you pull it, it stops, but the turn signals will not work then and there is still kuve 12V at the relay with the car off. Also the tail lights will just come on with the car shut down and locked for no reason and stay on till you pull the battery? I'm thinking it's related but just baffeled? Anyone know what's causing this??
there is enough transmission fluid(no leaks there)
No previous symptoms. Car would not shift out of 1st gear after stopping car and restarting at gas station. Stepped on gas. Engine revs, and can only go 20 miles per hour. Is there known problems with the Hydromatic 3T40 transmission?
my cavalier convertible has a list of symptoms as follows..1)cold start issues (always), cranking it 5 times before it starts 2) very rough idle at times 3) running way too rich (always) 3) poor gas mileage (always) 4) stalls when coming to a stop (sometimes) 5) running hotter than normal (always) 6) hesitation (jerking) upon acceleration from a stop (sometimes)7) excessive carbon build up, sometimes backfiring on start 8) idle will fluctuate up and down even in drive (sometimes)...The problem seems to be getting worse............the vehicle has 123,000 miles and no check engine light is on. Can one sensor be causing all these issues???
There is a rubber hose that we can't figure out what it connects to. The hose has a small valve that connects two smaller hose, each one running to the front and back of the vehicle. We believe the hose's function involves fuel tank pressure but aren't 100% certain. Any specific advice as to where it connects to would be much appreciated.
greetings, im a not so proud owner anymore,
of a 92 cavalier 5spd 2.8 f1 multiport.
done changed the ecu,motor itself,
checked all leads grounds but still no dice,
my problem is the next, while the car is on
(no matter if driving or not) the battery light will flash,
every flash alters the engine torque, headlights if on will intensify,
wipers if on will speed up, fan if on will blow higher,
radio if on will pop,
at a complete headach since no one has found faulty anything or
diagnosed correctly, alternator output no less than 13,no higher
than 14,battery brand new, scanner never gets any code other than 12

The seat flew backwards when I got into the car...bolt broke on the left side..so now you can't drive the car. The bolt looks as if it rusted. How can I repair this so I can drive the car? The seat is still attached to the floor on the right side, just not the left side.
