What is your question?
Both front seats came loose from the floor board when we were struck from behind and pushed into the car in front of us. Also, non of the airbags went off

The sensors are used for front and side impact, there is no sensor to deploy the air bags with a rear impact. The seat anchors are not supposed to allow the seats to move during an impact.
It isn't normal for them to break loose in a rear collision, but that does not mean that this car isn't designed differently than what we would normally expect. I can envision it being a good idea in some cases to limit the force that you would encounter from a rear collision by allowing the seat tracks to fail at some point. At the same time, some of the seat belt pre tensioners can damage the seat tracks when they are deployed, and maybe that's what you see. As far as the air bags detonating, that's going to be determined by how hard you actually hit the car I front of you. It takes a lot harder hit than you may realize to result in a full detonation, and maybe the system decided that you only needed the seat belts to deploy.
Thank you for your response. Trying to understand why/or how they would come loose like that. GM customer service from HQ wouldn't answer my questions regarding the accident. We owned two equinox's and I'm concerned if I need to get rid of the other one!
The people who would know what is "normal" would be your insurance company. Ask the adjuster if they routinely see damage like this or not.
Don't trust the insurance adjuster, originally they wanted to repair and I had to mention the "B" pillars that support the roof was compromised. Told them I was going to have car looked at by another person then they said it was total loss. Don't know who to trust. I do appreciate everyone's thoughts and points of view on the seats and so forth. I will help me explain to dr to find what is wrong with me wife's back and why pain is shooting down into her legs. God bless and thank you!
Just wondering why do you ask? I certainly hope no one was hurt! If not then it is a good thing, what-ever happened, or did not happen!!
Both of us did walk away but wife is having severe back issues and pain shooting down her legs. Her seat not only broke like mine but even twisted. Like I mentioned above, asking cause it seems odd they would break and we owned two equinox's and concerned now about how safe they really are. Thanks
Glad everyone is not more seriously injured as it very well could have been worse! 50 mph is a heck of a lick!! I don't know just how much rear end collision testing is done according to the NHTSA standards, but that accident was pretty severe and a total loss of the vehicle i am sure. I guess no two crashes can be the same anyway. I don't know the standards required for that.
Did file a complaint or concern to the NHTSA yesterday. Waiting on their response.
Ok thanks but the front end was severely damaged as well. We were it from rear sitting still waiting on train, car hit us doing 50+ mph and shoved us into car in front of us. Hood and front bumper damaged bad and for the rear, well put it this way, it's in the back seat.
Wow 50 in the rear, I'm an EMT as well and have seen many accidents with no deployment of air bags. The principal is sound, but they don't always work. When your hit from the back the front usually dips into the vehicle in front causing a different angle of impact, this is what has been explained to me. What a perfect world, I want them to work. By the way my daughter need some doors and hood for a 2012 Equinox, Hail Damage, think you can help, LOL
There isn't one piece of metal straight on the car, lol. The force even creased the B pillars. We are very lucky. My brother is an engineer for a foreign car maker and he thinks GM could be in possible fault on the seats. I think you are correct cause our car was lifted in the air when we got hit and the front did nose dive under a envoy.
Good luck, supper is ready.
always thinking of your yourself lol
