Report: Vacuum Brake Release Switch Can Fail
Cadillac Seville STS Problem
Model Years Affected: 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003
Average Mileage: 101,333 mi (38,000 mi - 149,000 mi)
The parking brake may not release automatically due to a failed vacuum switch or actuator. Our technicians tell us that if vacuum is supplied to the actuator when the transmission is in gear, the vacuum switch is functioning and replacing the actuator should correct this concern.

I have had the problem since the mileage hit 95000. How much does this cost to repair?

Vacuum Brake Release Switch has failed with characteristic description. Your preferred mechanic thinks that it is the ignition switch needs to be replaced at $610.00. How much does it cost to replace the vaccum release switch and/or the accenturated with break down with labor and parts. I really can not afford to replace igition switch and hope that replacing the the vaccum switch or accenturator. How can I be sure that the mechancic is right? Help! Please reply. DrMooreMD.

Emergency brake does not retract all the way back. I have to reach under the panell and pull a small lever to get it to fully release then slightly pull the brake back manually. This is on the 92 base model seville.
