Verified

Binding of the shifter slider can make the transmission shifter difficult to move. Replacing the bezel should fix this problem.

  • Visitor, 2005 Mercury Montego, 55,243 mi

    My car was unable to come out of park even with the brake depressed.
    Dealer told me there was nothing wrong with it when they tried it. I had the service manager take the car home with hime for a few days and he stated the problem occured. I felt it was the solenoid in the console that unlocks the shifter out of park.
    he finaly chaned the solenid componet and so far no more problems sine 48,000 miles.
