Pontiac Montana Erratic Shifting of the Automatic Transmission

(20 reports)

The transmission pressure control solenoid may fail causing erratic shifting. Our technicians tell us that partial dis-assembly of the transmission is necessary to replace a failed pressure control solenoid.

It started jerking as it shifted gears. I took it to the dealership. They said their mechanic who fixed transmissions quit his job so they took it to a transmission shop far away from where I lived. They said they replaced the transmission. I got it back and it did the exact same thing with the new transmission. -
Goes into gear then will not switch gears... Starts rolling... Will not go at all when in any gear... Turn engine off, start it back up and it will go and might switch into 2nd and sometimes 3rd but then starts rolling again. Not fixed yet but I hope someone knows what to do. -
