The transmission pressure control solenoid may fail causing erratic shifting. Our technicians tell us that partial dis-assembly of the transmission is necessary to replace a failed pressure control solenoid.

THE TRANSMISSION THUMPS AND WHINES WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO GEAR, IT HAS DONE THIS A COUPLE TIMES A YR, FOR THE LAST 2 YRS. I PUT SEAFOAM IN AND IT HELPED, BUT NOW I THINK THE TOURQUE CONVERTER IS GOING OUT TOO. I HAVE OWNED THIS MONTANA FOR ALMOST 7 YRS. BEEN A GOOD CAR OTHERWISE.

It started jerking as it shifted gears. I took it to the dealership. They said their mechanic who fixed transmissions quit his job so they took it to a transmission shop far away from where I lived. They said they replaced the transmission. I got it back and it did the exact same thing with the new transmission.
