Clunking noise coming from steering column inside of car when making turns

Twice, once @ 30,000 mile warranty replaced and also @ 80,000 miles. Had repair shop replaced. Shop indicated new design of rotating coupling with orginal production. Replacement shafts today are of the old design similar to cv joint.
