Problem Description and Possible Solution
The speedometer or other instrument panel gauge may begin to work erratically at times. Our technicians tell us that the instrument cluster must be sent to a repair facility to correct this fault. The warranty has been extended on some of these units to 7 years or 70,000 miles.

All of my Cluster gauges quit working. The mph, fuel, temp, battery etc. This seems to be a common problem for a Chevy Avalanche but I don't see any recall on it. Does anyone know if there is one?
First the oil pressure gauge stopped working. A few months later the fuel gauge stopped working. I need a solution other than the Chevrolet dealership.
The dash cluster no longer works normal. Sometimes it does and then it will not. Very aggravating and unsafe. Chevy needs to do a recall and repair these for us. It was already fixed once and does not work again. I do not know how fast I'm going, how much gas my truck has or if it is overheating.
SPEEDOMETER WON'T RETURN TO ZERO. THE INDICATOR NEEDLE JERKS AND SOMETIMES GETS STUCK.
Cluster Gage's fail on tach, speedometer, fuel, voltage, temp meters. Had it repaird at dealer twice. Went bad after each repair. Finally I fixed it myself by replacing the stepper motors inside the cluster. Bought on Amazon for $24.00 for six motors. It works perfect now
Entire intsrument cluster went dead started with some erratic behavior now completely dead
Not all the time, but when I would drive over an overpass, mahole, or pothole, all dash lights(symbols, i.e.ABS/Parking Brake,etc) would stay on for a few seconds, gauges go from max to min a few times, and clock will reset to 12:00. Mechanic changed the alternator, but when drove over bump, still had the problem.
May 2004 Chevy Avalanche speedometer start registering 70mph while in park. I would turn it off and back on to reset. Now it doesn't reset. I've heard that there was a recall on this item, but I've never received anything. I'm I stuck with the repair bill.
The instrument cluster just stopped working and when I would tap on it it would work for a while then stop again. Now, it is just not work at all. Only thing works on it is the check engine light and the turn signals.
My gauges do not work at all except water temp...

replaced alternator and battery but dashlights and gages not working.
I bought my avalanche and was cruising down the road in my new to me truck, I turned on the cruise control and then my instrument panel went on the fritz. It's still broke
Stated that the cluster needed to be replaced because it was bad and it was burning out the weakest sensor, which in turn was shorting out all the other sensors. Paid out the high dollars and issue still existed and sensors continued to get burned out. After paying for all new sensor, then I was old that cluster needed to be reset and reprogrammed. Paid out the funds for this as well still had issue. After several visits and missed worked hours and expensive repairs took to dealership. Dealership stated needed to reprogram cluster. Picked up truck, turned right back around in less than 5 miles system did the same thing. Picked up again, stated it was the ABS disconnection, which had been disconnected for over two years. They wrapped the plugs, reprogrammed the cluster. I picked up again, and turned around to have fixed for same issue. After third time the issue was fixed. Dealership stated it was a short caused by a pinching of a wire against metal when catalytic converter was replaced, but they would not write that down on the maintenance repair sheet and they did one of those could have kinda maybe statements after I asked for it in writing so that I could take the diagnostics back to the other garage to fight for a repair reimbursement for all the parts and labor on sensors replacements caused by the short due to the bad install of the catalytic converter which the garage said they would give me if I had the dealerships written diagnosis.
Instrument panel was fixed under warranty that was extended to 10yr 100k for just this issue.. Just caught it in a nick of time for the truck is 10 years old...
