Software updates are available to address transmission issues. However, due to the age of these vehicles, mechanical failures are more likely to be causing transmission problems. If a mechanical failure is repaired or the transmission is replaced, it is important to make sure any software updates have been taken care of. Failure to do so could result in continuing transmission issues.

My trans does the down shift klunk just prior to stopping, and does the initial klunk when 1st moving from a dead stop. It has trhe typical whirrrrr-tick tick about 100 ft from dead stop when first started cold. I have heard several things about this, and how to possibly remedy this- such as checking for software update ( how do you find them or apply them???) and changing the fluid and filter in the trans...if anyone knows what I should be doing, please let me know...bigcmfic@yahoo.com THANKS!
