Volkswagen Recalls 1990 Jettas Due to Defective Power Steering Pump Bracket
Suspension & Steering, March 22, 1990
RepairPal Expert Overview
Volkswagen has recalled certain 1990 Jettas because the power steering pump bracket may break due to excessive tension caused by a lack of clearance between the pump mounting bracket and sealing flange edge of the oil pan. Bracket breakage may cause the power steering pump to loosen and the drive belt to slip, which can increase the force needed to steer. Dealers will replace the power steering pump bracket.
