On 225 vehicles, the front passenger seat sensor may not detect a small adult sitting in the front passenger seat. If this happens and the front passenger air bag is deactivated, the risk of injury in a crash may be increased.
We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; the air bag may not deploy as designed. Please contact your BMW dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The front passenger seat sensor, which detects a child seat or adult in the seat, may recognize a small adult as a child seat. If this happens and the front passenger air bag is deactivated, the risk of injury in a crash may be increased. Dealers will replace the front passenger seat sensor. The recall began May 21, 2007.
