On certain vans with a gross vehicle weight of 8500 or 8600 pounds, the pitman arm may not be tightened properly to the steering linkage. If separation occurs, loss of vehicle control would happen and a crash could occur. Dealers will tighten the pitman arm nut to specification, or replace it if it is missing. The recall began December 10, 2002. The GM recall number is 02063.
Please contact your Chevrolet dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
