Cadillac DeVille Problem Report

Cadillac DeVille Trunk Lid Won't Close Due to Trunk Pull Down Switch Failure

(87 reports)

The trunk pull down switch may fail causing the trunk lid not to close completely. Our technicians tell us that the failed switch can be replaced without changing the complete pull down motor assembly.

My 1976 Sedan DeVille with 58,867 miles just suddenly stopped pulling down the trunk. I was at a charity function and it started raining and filled the trunk with water. I am going to check it out today , at first notice it was erratic and needed help to close twice and on the third time complete failure of pull down. I also noticed that the remote trunk release in the glove box stopped working. Will report on my findings. -
