Report: The Trunk Lid Won't Close Due to Trunk Pull Down Switch Failure
Cadillac Seville STS Problem
Model Years Affected: 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003
Average Mileage: 146,861 mi (67,000 mi - 205,000 mi)
The trunk pull down switch may fail causing the trunk lid not to close completely. Our technicians tell us that the failed switch can be replaced without changing the complete pull down motor assembly.

No solution. Cadillac dealer "jerry-rigged" latch to keep trunk closed. Supposedly, part needed was no longer available? It has been fine since but automatic trunk release no longer works.

My truck was also doing the same thing. I cleaned under the switch where it latches with brake cleaner fluid and now it works great

Trunk pull down motor kept running, so I removed the fuse (located in trunk on left side). I use the trunk now like it doesn't have this feature.
