STARTING THE CAR THE FUEL GAUGE GOES BACK AND FORTH FROM FULL TO EMPTY -
Goes to full then empty soon afterwards right after you start it up. Then it will slowly attempt to find the correct level as your driving. -

The fuel gage stays at Full, unless I am parked at a slant, then it goes down to empty. Even if there is gas in it. -
Never know if i have gas on my car. Fuel gauge does not work. Gas light comes on right after i put gas into my car. Nothing has been done -
Gauge doesn't read accurately -
Gas guage remains at full until close to empty tank, when it drops down to the actual reading. When sitting at a stoplight or in stop and go traffic, guage may drop to empty until I move the car again, when it jumps back to full. -

fuel gauge reads full then empty until it's really empty then read full????? -
I have this problem now. At starting, the gauge goes from empty to full, fall back to empty and slowly rise until I stop. Then it drops to empty and when I start to move forward it goes nuts again. I never know how much gas I have or don't have. Can you tell me what to do to fix it? -
Gas gauge will bounce back and forth. Will have a full tank, but the needle will bounce around 3/4ths of a tank and back to full, then down to a half tank, then back to 3 quarters, then down to a half, then down to one quarter, then back to full, etc, all within 15 seconds. -
Didn't make it to a gas station in time to fill up and ever since then I have incorrect readings on my fuel level. I'll just have filled up and I get a fuel low warning. I know my fuel is low and the gauge will say its full. Luckily I've estimated my car mileage and keep track that way. Of course GM has put out a "universal" sensor that is supposed to fit "all car types/years" except mine. Seems that my only option is to pay nearly $250 for the whole system that i font even need to replace! -
Fuel gauge does not work. When car is in park it gives a rough estimate of gas in thee car. When car is in drive, the hand will always go straight to full. IF gas light comes on then the gas hand will go straight to empty. -
Haven't fixed it yet. Just using the trip odometer. -
2003 IMPALA, I REPLACED JUST THE FUEL SENSOR IN THE TANK. CAN BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY FROM PICK UP AND PUMP. COST AROUND 40.00 $. EASY FIX, ACCESS COVER IN THE TRUNK TO REMOVE THE ASSEMBLY. INSPECT SENSOR AND YOU WILL SEE THE EYELASH CONTACTS HAVE WORN OFF, SHOULD ONLY TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS TO FIX. FOLLOW RECOMMENDED SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN PERFORMING THIS FIX. BATT DISCONNECT/NO ELECTRIC LIGHTS ANS DO REPAIR IN WELL VENTALATED AREA/ BEST OUTSIDE/ FUMES!!!!!!!! -
