Average Mileage: 125,288 mi (35,000 mi - 236,772 mi)

The engine may start and stall with the security light flashing. This is commonly caused by a failed passlock sensor which is part of the ignition lock cylinder. A secondary cause could be the ignition switch itself. Worn contacts inside the ignition switch can cause voltage drop issues which can affect the passlock system. Proper diagnoses should be performed before replacing any parts.

Passlock caused the engine to not start, as it was flashing the security light. I was tired of waiting the 10-15 minutes for the light to go solid. My mechanic replaced the key tumbler with a new passlock on it after discovering the wires and connectors on it were corroded (GM used tin connectors instead of gold), and it still won't start or turn over. We had it towed to the dealer to reflash the main computer. Once that was done it starts like new.

car won't start - security light flashes- get out of the car close the doors - lock it with remote - leave it alone - wait 10 minutes and try it again - took me 3 times of the car doing this before I realized to leave it alone - don't play with the remote ie: lock and unlock
