Digital display works when car is cold, but fades out after 5-10 minutes of running. On a warm or hot day it will be faded out at all times.
The digital display bottom area has been on and off for a long time. And now stop showing anything.Contact failure.
The dashboard display in my VW Passat faded whenever the weather was hot but I had it fixed at and it works great now.
Backlight of instrument panel(speedometer, RPM, odometer) is out.
Dash Board Display - lower center of dashboard - sometimes it lights up and sometime it does not - hit or miss and annoying it is.
Would fade her and there seemed like when it was hot out, now it's complete out and I can't read anything of the computer display
in my instrument panel the digital instrument (MFI?)fades out to where you can't even read it after my passat warms up on a cold day, on a warm/hot day you cannot even read it upon start up. I never know what gear it's in when i use the triptonic never know my MPG, etc... wish i never bought this Passat...
I first noticed this problem about 3 months after buying the car. The display would only have a vertical line lite up. It didn't do it often. But it has gotten worst this year. Sometimes it is blank. Other times it has the information showing backwards; looks like stray scratches, has half of the display lite with the other half blank. And it does is everytime I park in the sun and forget to put the sun to put my sun reflectors up. I was told by the service counselor that it has something to do with the car being parked in the sun. He said it would cost approximately a thousand something to replace. He couldn't guarentee me the new one wouldn't do the same thing. That is a lot of money so, I didn't have it replaced. I notice if I turn on the A/C and direct the air, using the button that shows the air blowing toward your face, it seems to come back on sooner than if I just let the air flow throughout the entire car.
My digital display goes black when it hot outside. If it cold outside than its okay.
VW 2008 Passat dashboard failed and totally not working
Volkswagen Passat Digital Display
Can't see the display when the car sits outside and gets hot from the sun.
Display is brighter when initially starting the engine, then fades out and can't be read at all.
Digital dash works well when cold but fades shortly thereafter.
The instrument panel works briefly then cuts out. Sometimes it will turn back on while driving.
Dashboard getting dim
Cluster goes unreadable when it's hot. On cold day work great
I got told that my Volkswagen Passat needs a instrument cluster assembly??? what does that mean
all digital readings on my instrument cluster are out, while the analog readings work fine. Anybody knows what the problem may be? 2002 jetta wgn 2L 4 cyl model
My Daughter's 03 Jetta GLS 1.8 turbo I believe the dash got wet due to sunroof being left open during rain and it shut down and went into security mode. The whole instrument cluster started going crazy. All gauge needles moving back and forth flashing lights, different tones coming from the bells and chimes than normal, and the odometer and all the digital readout stop working. it just displays all zeros. And now it won't start it cranks over but it won't actually run. It's in security mode it runs for about 2 seconds and shuts right back off again. So I guess my question is without having to go to the dealership and use VagCom and all of that, if I replace the key the key cylinder the instrument cluster and the ECM, all from the same donor vehicle matching, will it be Plug and Play? Or, will I still have to have everything reprogrammed?
