This problem has just happened(engine light on my dash. this is what I did, I had just got some fuel and after starting my car the engine light came on. Drove home about 2-3 miles. I removed the gas cap after reading the manuel, the next morning the engine light was gone, however the engine light has come back on. Did the same removal of the gas cap no luck. If anybody is having the same problem or has found a fix would appreciate the fix, thanks Oscar........
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 49,000 mi,
Street race, 6000rpm, 2nd gear, car backfires, engine shuts down and goes into a low power mode, with check engine light on. I limped into a gas station thinking I blew the engine, though all gauges were reading normal, except this "low power mode" that came on in the dash. I remembered a similar incident twice before and decided to check the gas cap. It was loose, barely on, so I tightened it and wala the car ran fine. Engine light stayed on for several hours, but then shut off. Very smart computer. If your gas cap is loose, get a new one.
