I've had the gas cap replaced twice in 24 months ... and it's still difficult to ensure that it's properly closed.
Have only 21600 miles on 2006 Corvette (2nd Car) and check engine light cam on. Took it to dealer and $125 to diagnose the problem- turned out to be the gas cap seal was causing the problem. Part replacement was $28 so for a mere $153 the problem was fixed - what a rip off.
Replaced the gas cap at 5000 miles because it keep loosening between fill ups and the check engine light comes on. Now I am having the same problem at 12000 miles.
I have replace the gas cap 4 times and now I will need to again
Check engine light keeps coming on for loose gas cap
Smell gas, worn cap!
Had Dealer replace gas cap, but doesnt seem too secure. I hope Chevy can come up with a more secure gas cap.
