Rookie
Bought the car and the A/C was not working. Upon inspection compressor clutch was gone. Had metal shavings all over the front of the compressor. I bought a rebuilt compressor, dryer, and orifice from eBay for $150.00 and my mechanic replaced it for me while doing a head gasket replacement, while the engine was out of the car. Best part was he did not charge me for this as he had to take the compressor off anyway for the work that was needed.
*** Take note*** If you need work that requires the engine being pulled, get everything done while the engine is out. New belts, hoses,check gaskets,change the water pump (even if not needed) your mechanic will give you a break as it is less labor intensive with the motor out of the car. These cars are not easy to work on as there is no room under the hood. Repair times can be 10 X's that of when the engine is out. Have your mechanic check and suggest replacement of any part that is needed.
