Z71 Tahoe transfer case makes noise when going down the road. Vehicle jumped while at stoplight, like someone bumped into me. Lifted rear axle, put into 2wd ,while tires start to turn loud noise coming from transfer case and klunking sounds. I do not use 4wd !!! This is the only problem I`ve ever had with my Chevy and if continues I will never buy any 4wd vehicle again! I really love this Z71 Tahoe.(I traded my `03 Excursion 4wd diesel for this?) Dashboard says service 4wd.Just driving in 2wd all tne time and having problems with 4wd doesn`t make sense.

Dealership in Chapel Hill NC tried to convince me I needed an entirely new transfer case. Not the case at all, just the encoder switch worn out.

My 4WD/2WD push button selector switch won't light up most of the time and when it does it won't come out of 4LO. Service 4WD light is on. My mechanic ran diagnostic and couldn't find anything wrong. Obviously there is something wrong as it still says service 4WD.
