What is your question?
Just replaced the old battery. It kept dying. New battery. Car starts and runs fine but the running lights stay on when I shut off the car.

On some older Toyota models if you open the door before turning the ignition off, the lights will stay on. If you turn the ignition off and remove key then open the door, the lights will turn off after a few seconds when the door is closed.
Light switch in the off position?
yes
Seems it is but really it aint... I figure the switch has failed!
I just bought the car a couple of months ago, so am still getting to know it. Sent for a manual, coming soon. Could you possibly tell me where to look for the switch? 1995 Toyota Celica liftback. ST.
How do you turn the lights on/off .?? ... When you say running lights... you mean just the parking lights and not the headlamps stay on? .., This is a multifunction switch... lights..dimmer...signals...... simple to test...remove steering column cover... unplug wire connector... if lights go off... replace this switch assembly!! If lights remain on... ckeck add-on equipment or accessories creating short to battery voltage..!
there is possibly a draw from another power source.
Easily tested....... unplug light switch!!!
You are right, however....IF you turn the light switch OFF... ALL the lights will go OFF! ... Unless there is a problem!!.... Just saying....
Yes , but apparently you haven't said it right.................
Hell fire.....I reckon i cant, from the looks of it!!!
I'm not disagreeing with you all, just adding my 2 cents. Keep up the awesome work!!!
:-)
Peculiarly, when I disconnected, then reconnected the battery the problem seemed to disappear. But I will stay aware of the 'turning the ignition off before opening the door' thing. Thanks for your input, all.
