Agree with #1, Wix is also a good filter, and use synthetic or semi-synthetic oil. Also you should clean the two VVT (variable valve timing) filters which are likely causing the engine code.

How low was the oil level ? Recommend using a Toyota oil filter and Good brand oil(proper weight) Have code cleared and see what happens?

Agree with both.... also keep oil changed at proper intervals to prevent more problems!
