why does my vehicle's steering wheel shake every time I apply the brakes.

What is your question?

The faster I'm traveling and I apply the brakes the more it shakes.

your front brake rotors are warped.Either resurfacing them or replacing them is the fix for that, with new pads , I would recommend. If you are planning on doing it yourself , reply and I can give you some tips so you can avoid some common problems.

thanx so much. That was my guess but I wanted a second opinion. I will need help on doing it myself, and thanx for the offer but how do I get a hold of U ?

I'm on the east coast , so we have a slight time difference. My best suggestion , if you can swing it , is to get Honda pads & rotors (just remember you're saing labor $ doing it yourself , so get the good parts).I'm assuming the rotors on now are pretty old and probably not worth machining so I'll go at this using that angle. Next question...Do you have air tools or are you doing this by hand? Do you have a torque wrench that goes to 85 FT./Lbs.? Do you have an impact driver with a philips head bit(you'll probably need this , if the rotors still have the retaining screws in them)? And Most importantly ....How much experience do you have with disc brake work? Vibration in itself is not dangerous , so be completely prepared before loosening the first lug nut! I'll check back tomorrow but I don't get home from work 'til about 7PM /10PM your time...keep that in mind ....any job worth doing well is worth every minute it takes especially if it's brakes on a car that carries your family (I am being a tad presumptious there) .

Thanx 4 replying. I replaced the right side rotor a few weeks ago, bought it at local auto parts store for $40. It's not the easy 4 bolts on the rotor style. It was more work involved. I didn't buy new pads cause I had just replaced pads. I noticed old pads were wearing out uneven, that's what gave me an idea the rotors were warped. Do I have to re align my car ?. I do have power tools. I'm so so mechanical but not a pro. I go to my library and check out the manual.

Sorry , I got my model years mixed up. Since you've already done one (and possibly the second , by now) the two things i'd recommend are replacing the wheel bearings if you had any problems with them , and torque all bolts , including the lug nuts.

I've done one so far, but when I get around to installing the second one, do I have to install new pads ?. The pads are a few months old. I noticed the old ones were wearing out uneven, that's when I kinda figured the rotors might be warped.

It could either mean your rotors are warped, or you have air in the brake lines. Either scenarios are not good. http://www.lightdeal.co.uk/
