Question Answered: wht would cause when shifting into D to be so sluggish as though its in 3rd

The crank and cam sensors tell the engine where top dead center is. Though these sensors do not usually cause a no start, if they break, the computer will go into "limp home mode," which allows you to get the car to a service station. The car will run badly, and may stall out on you. If the plug wires, plugs or coils are bad and are causing the engine to misfire, the engine will run rough. This may also cause the car to stall when driving.

Entirely dependant on the vehicle. If it is a ford they will not start if the battery in your electric fob dies. GM's VATS system has a problem with the ign wires that control the starting system. These vehicles will have a small tab on both sides of the key with metal strips in the middle. Incorrect resistance or worn contacts can be the problem there. Not sure of your vehicle make, so much is dependant on

"Sugar" can also be used to refer to water-soluble crystalline carbohydrates with varying sweetness. Question Answered: What does it mean when the o/d off light flashes & the o/d doesnt work at all?
May 27, 2013, 02:59 AM
This means you have a problem with the transmission. You can take it to a shop and have the codes scanned (I think Autozone does this for free), or just go out and buy a decent OBDII scan tool and do it yourself (it is really easy). Armed with the trouble codes, you may be able to narrow it down. I have a 2000 Ford Windstar that had the same problem. The O/D OFF light would flash after the transmission would refuse to shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear when cold. I pulled the codes and discovered that the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) Sensor signal was intermittent. I replaced the sensor and have had no problems since. ------------ lightdeal
