The ABS light came on lost power and electric issue?

What is your question?

While driving, the ABS light came on, there was a thud, then the dash lights, head lights went out, emergency lights wouldn't work, call stalled wouldn't restart. It was as if the battery suddenly had no power.

This problem should be obvious when looking under the hood. Have somone that knows autos. to take a peek. Starting with the battery itself then the cables and so on. That "thud" should be a clue.

I am one of those who know nothing about working on cars. History proves repair shops take advantage of those who lack knowledge. So instead of a sarcastic comment, how about a real answer so I can compare that it to the garage's assessment so I may judge if being taken advantage of.

When someone comes along who is so sure they are going to be taken advantage of as you appear to be, what actually ends up happening is we often get taken advantage of, and get blamed for it. We run our shops as to assume all of the risks because our customers need us to, however that makes us vulnerable to all kinds of things. In the end we have learned that we can't trust someone who doesn't trust us and that usually means we can't work for you. As a technician I have to concentrate on the work in front of me, without any pressure that could have me distracted and looking over my shoulder wondering what someone might try and do or say. There are a lot of good people who do great work in this trade, find one and learn that you can trust him/her and then getting your car serviced when necessary will be easy. (easier?)

I have been taken advantage in the past. Twice. In Waukgan, IL and here in Abq, NM. Of course l'm jaded. I posted on this site because of the fact it's a community site. Having used community sites before l know there are genuine folk on these sites. I was very taken aback by "pushrod's" response.

I simply stated the facts in response to your reply to my original answer!

This site and many others aren't the only things that are community, as small business owners we are a part of our communities. ( It's 6:50 am and I just got a call to see if I could change a flat tire for someone, forty miles away :(, that's a bit much to ask ) In your community there are people who are striving to be the best they can be at a very difficult job. Anyone who thinks fixing cars is easy really doesn't have a clue just how difficult a lot of the stuff we do really is. So ultimately the best advice we can give you is to meet and learn who the people are that repair cars for a living near you. Find someone you like, and learn to trust them and they will take care of you and your car.

Well said cardoc; We realize you no nothing about Auto Repair, That could be the reason you are here. We try to give the best Advice or try to direct you to an answer. Not all situations can we give you the answer to the fix you need. When it comes to electrical, the system has to have hands on to diagnose the circuits involved. Yes there are repair shops that work under house roofing rules, but at this website are people who care or we wouldn't be here. We can't stand the shops that ruin or image, like the ones you have heard of. The locator on this website has many shops across the states that have been accepted as good repair facilities with a good track record. Give that a try. PS We aren't paid to help people on this site as well. Just donate or time.

I did and understand, we deal with the same thing day in and day out. If we could have met face to face, I'm sure it would have been a good relationship, because we would have went to your car together and tried to find the problem together, then decide the repair it needs, Together.

You would regret that!!
