Security light won't turn off and says starting disabled

You may need a technician with a TechII, or appropriate J2534 device to access the security system and program the key to the car. While they are supposed to be able to do a relearn, sometimes it just doesn't work and it has to be done with GM's TIS. At the same time, one has to consider that there could be a problem on the data network that may be preventing the system from operating and that may need to be tested and repaired. Sometimes people miss the point that you must turn the key all the way to the crank position to start the ten minute timer for the manual relearn. It takes three consecutive cycles to make the system do thge relearn, which is why it takes a little over half an hour to do. After the third cycle turn the key off for thirty seconds before attempting to start.
It's easier with the original key to add a key, but there is a procedure to follow when replacing the original, and this is not the place to instruct on how to do it on an open forum. Contact your dealer or a professional technician to give you these instructions. Will probably want proof that you own the vehicle before giving the information. Sorry
Look in your owners manual if you still have it. I have a 2007 Saturn Relay (same vehicle) and I think it tells you in it how to do this.
How did the locksmith cut the new key without an old key? If he cut it by vehicle ID then he should be able to program this new one or tell you how! Does the key have the right transponder chip inside it??? Is this just a key you had cut prior to this and it is just for unlocking the doors without a chip in it at all? How do you think can we help you without more information from you????
You shouldn't put that on an open forum, you don't know who's looking for ways to steal vehicles, even the one's who know are to check for proof of ownership, Kind Sir!
Agree! That locksmith, you can bet your a.., can do it!!!
Its not like this is top secret information. It was on the web before it showed up in most of the aftermarket service information systems. At the same time, there is pressure to eliminate all of the manual relearn routines and make them all software based where one has to have a locksmiths ID# through NASTF and a current subscription to the O.E's website.
No need to try and justify the post, just common sense issue, We all could have given the information and other information on different post, but we don't know who these people are, or if it is their vehicle. Sorry; no disrespect, but I and others think it should be verified before the information is given so freely.
I agree to the point of they don't get a key without proof of ownership. But once they have a key, its out of our hands or control.
Then let them find the information without using this forum. If they would come to your or my shop, we can do the verification and have control over the procedure. Yes it's out of our hands unless it's our hands that cause the possible theft. What if I was on vacation and left my vehicle out, someone got my VIN#, got a key made, then asked how, and you told him how to do it. That would piss you off if I did it to you. Now let's let it go and remember for the good of others. Agreed!
