Sounds like the symptoms are from a vacuum leak; Throttle body cleaning is a good idea, and check or replace the throttle body gasket, check all the intake hoses, even the air intake on the engine side of the MAF. Have the fuel filter replaced, and make sure the intake gaskets are not leaking. If your not sure how to do this, seek professional help.

Engine size? 4 or 6 cyl. Different possibilities on each! Check engine light on?
