There is a tool availible that can be used to replace lifters for a reasonable price, and no tear down involved.
Single "Overhead" Camshaft engine with 15,000 miles on it hum,, sure that it needs a new lifter? 'Mechanic' check it out? Pretty easy to replace the $12.00 lifter, it's sitting right on top of the head!! Getting to it is the problem. Better have it checked out before doing any work!!! Or just jump right in there in the dark not knowing what to do and where the lifters are! IT IS AN OVER HEAD CAM ENGINE FOR PETE SAKE!!!
thanks for your feedback I really appreciate it I was thinking there should be a way to take care of this for a reasonable expense I'm sure I can locate the tool from here I was going to go to our main library in town they have free access to a website that has full detailed instructions on auto repair for all models of cars. it is called alldata online.
YEP www.alldatadiy.com. It charges a fee to use but has a lot of information. I bought my tools for Ford, Dodge, and others from the tool truck, Snap-on and Matco. It didn't make sense to work that hard to replace lifters.
actually the main library in San Francisco California has paid for and all access subcription so patrons of the library can view and print any information for free. I'm not sure it could be unique to this library in our city. I had no idea about it until one of the library personnel explained about it to me and I've used it ever since it doesn't cost me anything except for the price to print something out.
That's great, the big cities here do the same. I am around 70mi for Ft Worth and 90mi from Dallas. Good luck, No Worries.
