On May 17, 2018, Chrysler recalled 4,846,885 Chrysler 200. Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2014-2018 dodge journey, charger and durango, ram 2500, 3500, 3500 cab chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 cab chassis and 5500 cab chassis, jeep cherokee and grand cherokee and chrysler 300, 2014-2019 ram 1500, 2015-2018 dodge challenger, 2015-2017 chrysler 200, 2016-2018 ram 3500 cab chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 chrysler pacifica and 2018 jeep wrangler vehicles. these vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. if, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

The cruise control system may be unresponsive to commands to cancel the set speed by depressing the cancel switch or pressing the brake pedal due to a short circuit in the vehicle wiring. When this occurs, the vehicle would continue accelerating despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control function increasing risk of a crash.

Recall repairs on your Chrysler, Jeep, Ram or Dodge vehicle must be performed by a Chrysler, Jeep, Ram or Dodge dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chrysler, Jeep, Ram or Dodge dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

The vehicle is equipped with active headrests that deploy to protect occupants in a rear end collision. In some cases, a component within the occupant restraint controller may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying as needed. Front seat occupants would have an increased risk of injury as a result.
