On July 10, 2017, Chrysler recalled 442,214 Dodge Challenger R/T. Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 dodge challenger, dodge charger, chrysler 300, dodge durango, and 2012-2014 jeep grand cherokee vehicles. the affected vehicles have electro-hydraulic power steering (ehps) and are equipped with a 5.7l or a 3.6l engine and a 160, 180 or 220 amp alternator. in the affected vehicles, the alternator may suddenly fail.

For vehicles equipped with a 5.7L or 3.6L engine and a 160, 180 or 220 amp alternator, the alternator of the vehicle may fail, resulting in the engine stalling while driving. A failed alternator would also lead to a dead battery, preventing the vehicle from having electrical power to start. The alternator in affected vehicles also could possibly short circuit, causing an engine fire.

Recall repairs on your Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle must be performed by a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in August, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is T36.

For vehicles modified by Vantage Mobility International for wheelchair access, the rear brake lines may have been accidentally crossed during modification. This would result in ineffective rear brakes, possibly resulting in an accident.

The driver's frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.
