Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2012 jeep liberty and 2012-2013 chrysler 200 and dodge avenger vehicles. a component within the occupant restraint controller (orc) may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying in the event of a rear-end crash.

The vehicle is equipped with active headrests that deploy to protect occupants in a rear end collision. In some cases, a component within the occupant restraint controller may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying as needed. Front seat occupants would have an increased risk of injury as a result.

Recall repairs on your Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle must be performed by a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is T56.

For vehicles modified by Vantage Mobility International for lowered floors, the axles may not be centered properly resulting in wheel wobble that could result in a loss of vehicle control. This would increase risk of a crash.

For vehicles equipped with a 5.7L or 3.6L engine and a 160, 180 or 220 amp alternator, the alternator of the vehicle may fail, resulting in the engine stalling while driving. A failed alternator would also lead to a dead battery, preventing the vehicle from having electrical power to start. The alternator in affected vehicles also could possibly short circuit, causing an engine fire.
