Front Seat Active Headrest Restraints Do Not Deploy As Needed In An Accident

Recall Details

The active headrest restraints for the front seats may not deploy as needed in an accident due to a fault within the occupant restraint controller (ORC). Dealers will replace the ORC as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The vehicle is equipped with active headrests that deploy to protect occupants in a rear end collision. In some cases, a component within the occupant restraint controller may fail and prevent the active headrests from deploying as needed. Front seat occupants would have an increased risk of injury as a result.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle must be performed by a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership. Chrysler will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Chrysler recall number is T56.
