Volvo is recalling all models equipped with Garmin 760 Portable Global Positioning System units because the battery may overheat, which could lead to a fire. Volvo advises owners to stop using the Garmin device immediately and consult the Garmin website to determine if they have a defective unit. The unit's battery will be replaced and a spacer inserted to prevent the problem from reoccurring. This will be performed free of charge.

Software for the central electronic module may not send the signal the fuel pump electronic module needs to activate the fuel pump. The driver may be able to start the engine because of residual fuel pressure, but the engine will eventually stall again. If the vehicle stalls in certain conditions, a crash could occur. Dealers will update software for the central electronic module free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2009. The Volvo recall number is R215.
