2006 Volkswagen Passat Recalls
Volkswagen is recalling models equipped with 2.0L engines with 147 kw because they may have a vacuum line that can fracture and become disconnected at low ambient temperatures. This may cause the brake power assist to become inoperative, which can lead to increased braking effort and stopping distance. Dealers will install the newly designed vacuum line.
The wiper motor may fail during heavy rain due to excessive moisture entering the wiper motor. This may cause the wipers to stop working, which can reduce visibility and lead to a crash. Dealers will install a special cover and sealing kit.
The left and right tie rod securing nut may be insufficiently torqued. The tie rod nut may loosen and cause the tie rod to separate, which can result in a loss of steering control. Dealers will inspect and install new left and right tie rod securing nuts at the proper torqued specification.
