Problem Description and Possible Solution
The upper dash may crack, most commonly on vehicles in warm climates and exposed to a lot of sunlight. The common repair is to replace the upper instrument trim panel. Information on a technical service bulletin or extended warranty is not available at this time.

2007 gmc yukon, dashboard cracked top left of passenger side airbag and on right side of hump over steering wheel. I called GMC and told them it was a serious safety issue as its seems like the dashboard is going to fall into the steering column and even make the air bag not function properly. GMC told me to take it to local dearler to check if it was accurate and not normal wear and tear. GMC is replacing it FREE of charge!!! Call them up 1800 462 8782 they are really great about the situation. It seems as they do not want to issue recall; just replacing as they come up. Only bad thing is that it takes all day to replace.
Woke up this morning and found a huge crack behind steering column. Is GM fixing this for free?
I have the same issue, and have created a petition on Change.org to petition General Motors to address this as a safety recall. Please help me out by signing the petition.
Noticed dashboard cracked above instrument panel on main dashboard (bad place). Have not had fixed yet looking for recall (lol) or method to repair not replace.
I just noticed a huge crack on the hump of the dash over steering column and a new crack on left side of air bag. This is ridiculous and there needs to be a recall, clearly this isn't user error. The most oddest place for cracks. I'm going to call this week and hopes is gets taken care of ASAP. Not going to stop until it is taken care of. I'll keep you all updated.
I need gmc to fixes this problem. All the dashboard is broken
Cracked dash in the hump above instrument pnel.
We have had this car 11 months. It is kept in garage at night. Got in car on cold morning, and heard loud pop after I turned heat on. A large (6") crack is now above the hump over the control panel. It is on right side. The dealership says the factory warranty is up and the extended warranty we paid for will not cover it.
We called the 1-800 number mentioned above, but no resolution yet.
Dash on left of instrument cover cracked & breaking, also on left of air bag the dash is cracked. It is not only ugly it rattles and drives me crazy!
dash is cracking left side and at the air bag right side. There has never been anything lying on the dash.
One day perfect, next day to cracks. Airbag on passenger side, instrument hump on driver side.
The upper dash is cracking.
Dash cracked at upper left corner of the airbag.
twice my dash has cracked around the air bag on the passanger side. The first time was in 2011 and now again in 2014. Same place
Dash cracked on right side hump behind steering wheel. Will call Monday to see about having replaced.
Crack on dash by the passengers side airbag. Called GMC- opened case. I think it all has to do with the dealership and their willing to help. Needless to say the dealership in town HALL GMC Tyler,tx was not willing. They said my Yukon has to many miles. But was offered 1500 credit toward new car. HMMMM- the service rep at GMC even said they knew it was a problem in the southern states.
I have 93000 miles on my yukon xl and not sure when the cracked dash appeared. As I have gone to trade it in, this is of course a knock off the price. I have read others have had this inexplicable problem. Is it unsafe?
Have 2007 GMC Yukon - has 3 cracks along passenger side airbag, and C cracked so bad on driver side behind hump that now have a huge hole that I cover with a placemat!! All the cars I have ever owned (most all GM) have never had this happen. GM needs to step up and take care of their loyal customers!!!
Dash is cracked behind steering wheel and next to airbag. Dealer said they will not fix it!
Not happy of course. Looking for different angle as I am concern it may interfere with airbag and quality as a safety issue.
Large crack behind the steering column and a smaller one just right of the entertainment/climate console.
