2004 Suzuki Verona Recalls
In the affected vehicles excess heat could be generated within the daytime running lights module located in the instrument panel. As a result the module could melt, increasing the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the daytime running lights module to correct this concern.
The brake light switch may be knocked out of adjustment if an upward/rearward force contacts the brake pedal. If this happens, the lights would remain on whether or not the brake pedal is applied, and will remain illuminated even when the key is switched off. This condition could drain the battery if left, and increase the risk of a rear end crash since drivers will not know when the brakes are applied. This condition would also disable the automatic transmission torque converter clutch, cruise control, and the traction control system. Dealers will replace the brake light switch. A problem with the adaptive fuel control logic may allow air/fuel ratios that are lean enough to cause the engine to stall during deceleration. If the engine stalls without warning, a crash could result. Dealers will reprogram the Electronic Control Module (ECM) on affected vehicles. The recall began September 14, 2004. The Suzuki recall number is KE.
The dual stage driver's frontal air bag may deploy in an improper sequence. If the air bag deploys improperly in a crash, the driver could be severely injured or killed. Dealers will install an adapting wiring harness. The recall began for Verona owners October 30, 2003. All Forenza vehicles were repaired before being sold. The Suzuki recall number is KB.
A mislocated sensor in the seat belt buckle may prevent the seat belt tongue from being inserted completely into the buckle. In a crash, the seat occupant may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly. The recall began September 4, 2003.
