Recalls are issued for cars with safety-related defects or problems

2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Engine, January 27, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

As a result of a failed tensioner, the accessory drive belt may slip or come off completely. This will result in hard steering and illumination of the charging system warning light. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the engine may stall as a result of a discharged battery and the engine temperature warning light may illuminate. Loss of vehicle control due to hard steering or engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the tensioner with an improved part to correct this concern. This recall is to begin on February 16, 2011. The Suzuki recall number is SM.
