Reprogramming the transmission control module with the latest Kia transmission software may fix abnormalities in the automatic transmission and erroneous transmission-related Check Engine Light illumination. Software updates are commonly most effective on newer vehicles. Higher mileage vehicles may exhibit a similar symptom caused by a component failure. However, whenever major transmission repairs are performed the transmission software should be checked and updated as necessary.Google+

Problem is the check engine light came on/off and on again.
Fault codes were p0700 and p0748 as done at Autozone. Some type of fault with the transaxle (P0700) or
failed transaxle control module/failed linear solenoid valve/open or short cicuit condition in the linear solenoid control.
While driving the car shutters hard like you hit the brakes or the trans jammed, it is not right.
Went to (Central Kia) in Plano to discuss prior to bringing it in to check warranty on the 10 year 100,000 mile.
They did not have accurate records so I had to get the original purchase agreement documents to show the date of purchase May 0f 2007 and that it was NEW when purchased from them.
Now we await the verdict at the dealer on Wednesday may 30th 2012 and i will update as to what they say and do.

My 2006 Spectra feels like it completely skips 1st gear and drags when I attempt to accelerate from stoplights and stops signs, etc. Sometimes it will also lurch when I finally get going. It's not every single time, sometimes I can restart my car and it will act normal again. Its making me feel like I'm crazy. I was told at the walmart jiffy lube that it was a "shift solenoid malfunction" However they had no idea what it is or how much the cost would be to fix it. Still in the process of taking it in somewhere to get resolved...

one morning i was driving to work a,i was doing the speed limit which is 65mph but i always stay a little under that speed limit. i got to about 65 and boom it was like the transmission had come through the floor and it felt as if i was going to be ejected from the car! that scared me to death!!! after that it started dragging so i had to exit the highway and drive the city streets with my emergency flashers on because i could do no more than 35-40 mph.i got out of the car at work and started my day. at the end of the day i got back in my car staying to the back streets only i had no problems.i called kia to do a diagnostic test on my service engine soon light because when the transmission would downshift the light would flash.come to find out the light was from a bad c02 sensor. they ran another diagnostic test the same day and they couldnt find anything.one of their mechanicstold me the computer was going out.they ask me to bring the car back when i have that problem again.now its doing the same thing just sitting in a drive through restaurnt.it kicked back so hard it hurt my neck because i thought someone had hit me from the back!! i would realy like to know where i can have this repair taken care of because this is very dangerious!!!!

My check engine light is on and the car only goes about 10 mph. I have 80000 miles on it. Bought brand new. Help please.
My check engine light comes on, also while driving the transmission unexpectedly down shifts to 3rd gear. Very disturbing and dangerous if on highway going 70+ mph.
Just like everyone is saying
