RepairPal Expert Overview
Certain turbo models are being recalled because the turbo charger may fail, allowing oil to be drawn into the exhaust system and resulting in excessive smoke and an increased risk of fire.
Porsche will notify owners of affected vehicles during July, 2012. If you notice excess smoke from the exhaust, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The turbocharger turbine wheel may fracture due to a casting defect. If a fracture occurs, vehicle performance will be decreased and the turbine shaft may also fracture. If the shaft fractures, oil can be drawn into the exhaust system, resulting in excessive smoke and the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the turbine wheels to correct this concern. The Porsche recall number is AC04.
