After an event of hard braking, the airbag control module (sensing and diagnostic module, or SDM) may reset itself. If this occurs during an aggressive turning maneuver, and if a potential vehicle rollover is sensed, the roof rail airbag may inadvertently deploy. Additionally, the airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners may not deploy during a severe crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will reprogram the SDM to correct this concern.
