Potential Fuel Leak From Fuel Tank Area

Affected Cars:

Make Model Year(s)
Acura MDX 2012
Honda Pilot 2012

Exhaust & Emissions, February 16, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview

A fuel leak may develop from the fuel tank area due to a failed vent shut float (VSF) valve case.

Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning March 13, 2012. If you are experiencing a fuel leak and/or smell, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

The vent shut float (VSF) valve case in the fuel tank assembly does not meet design specifications. As a result, fuel may leak from the fuel tank, increasing the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the VSF assembly date, and if necessary, replace the fuel tank assembly to correct this concern. The Honda recall numbers are S25 and S26.
