Potential Fuel Leak at Fuel Line Quick Connect fitting
Engine, June 3, 2011
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
A fuel leak or complete disconnect may develop from one of the fuel line fittings. Fuel leaks always increase the risk of a fire. In the case of complete disconnect, the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
What Should You Do?
This should be considered a high priority recall. A fuel leak may develop with out warning. Please contact your Volvo dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The male part of the fuel line quick connector was manufactured with dimensions out of specification. As a result, the locking function may not be engaged. The fuel line quick connector may detach and the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash. In less severe cases, a leak or fuel smell may develop. Any fuel link increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel lines to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin during June of 2011. The Volvo recall number is R245.
