This should be considered a high priority recall. The drive shaft may fail without warning. Please contact your Toyota dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

The drive shaft may fail on vehicles equipped with a 3-joint type shaft. Due to improper casting of the slip yoke, it may break, causing the drive shaft to separate at the joint and come into contact with the road surface. Failure of the drive shaft can result in a loss of vehicle power and control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the drive shaft and replace it as necessary. This recall is expected to begin during May 2011.
